CMBA Shares Information in WA, D.C. about Local Workforce Housing Needs
Housing topic among key issues discussed with Minnesota's Congressional delegation
CMBA participated in the recent St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Washington D.C. Visit. Government Affairs Consultant, Steve Gottwalt, shared information with members of Minnesota's delegation, including House Majority Whip, CD6 Rep. Tom Emmer, CD1 Rep. Brad Finstad, Sen. Tina Smith's staff and Sen. Amy Klobuchar's staff.
"Home building and construction are highly regulated industries, and the federal government has a role to play," said Gottwalt. "There really is no substitute for a face-to-face conversation about these issues with our elected representatives and their staff in Washington, D.C."
Local Chamber delegates emphasized an overall "workforce" theme that included discussion of state and local efforts to provide more workforce affordable housing. "CMBA is viewed as a leader and collaborator on this set of issues," said Gottwalt. "It's all about relationships, and these meetings will result in follow-up."
(Gottwalt joined the delegation at no expense to CMBA members.)
