CMBA Members Asked to Sign Petition Supporting 2026 "YES to Homes" Agenda
Minnesota legislators expected to act on housing reforms this session
Support the 2026 YES to Homes Legislative Effort - Sign The Petition!
The Minnesota legislative session starts this week (Feb. 17), and legislators will determine whether Minnesota takes a major step toward solving our housing crisis, or continues the status quo that's making homes more expensive to build, and unaffordable for thousands of families.
Why It Matters: Minnesota needs more than 100,000 new homes to meet demand, but right now, exclusionary zoning rules are making it nearly impossible to build the homes Minnesotans need. YES to Homes would change that, and you can CLICK HERE for more details.
At the heart of the legislative package is the Minnesota Starter Home Act, designed to bring back entry-level housing by allowing increased density without costly, drawn-out variance processes. This means duplexes and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) would be permitted in residential zones, making it easier for developers to meet rising demand.
We ask you to take just 30 seconds to look-over the YES to Homes petition, and sign-on: SIGN THE PETITION
This petition shows local legislators you support common-sense housing solutions. CMBA members signing-on can make a real difference!
The Minnesota Senate State and Local Government Committee will hold hearings on the 2026 YES to Homes legislative effort in the next few weeks. We'll keep you updated on opportunities to testify, call your legislators, and amplify your voice. Today, please just take a few moments to sign the petition.
Please forward the link to associates and others who can sign-on. Your voices can make the difference between advancing badly needed reforms, or watching our State Legislature pass on the opportunity. This year is particularly important, because next year we will start all over again with an entirely new legislature and Governor.
