CMBA Helps Mitigate New Minnesota Lead Paint Rules
RRP Lead Paint rules moving forward after successful efforts to make them more reasonable
After years of struggle, new lead paint rules are moving ahead in Minnesota. For the last seven years, CMBA and its members have been closely involved with Housing First Minnesota (HFM) and others in trying to make the Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP) Lead Paint rules more reasonable.
"The first versions were absolutely atrocious," said CMBA Government Affairs Consultant, Steve Gottwalt. "Builders and renovators would have had to provide mobile showering facilities and extremely burdensome documentation at each work site. Those measures are no longer in the rules thanks to our industry advocacy."
However, the RRP Lead Paint rules the state plans to implement are still burdensome, and CMBA will continue partnering with HFM to mitigate the new rules.

CMBA will provide a summary of the new RRP Lead Paint rules shortly, so check back on this article for updates. As always, please contact CMBA with questions, concerns or requests.
