Building Fees: Greater St. Cloud and Benton Economic Partnership Hosting Input Session 6/23
Building Fees: Greater St. Cloud and Benton Economic Partnership Hosting Input Session 6/23
CMBA remains opposed to proposed St. Cloud building fee increases
The City has agreed to share a draft of the proposed fee schedule along with the deliverables it intends to pair with the increases (improved services, expedited permitting timelines, technology investments, and other process improvements). That draft will serve as our starting point.
The goal of this session is to listen first and move toward shared outcomes:
- Feedback - understanding your concerns. We want to hear directly from builders, developers, and business owners about how the proposed fee schedule and the City's related deliverables land from your perspective.
- Barriers - with specific examples. We're seeking concrete, real-world examples of what is currently slowing or constraining development in St. Cloud - the more specific, the more useful.
- Solutions - if warranted. Where the group sees them, we may discuss realistic alternatives and ideas that could support the City's goal of stabilizing its budget while reducing financial impacts on developers and businesses and lowering barriers to housing and business development.
The output will be shared with City staff and elected officials in advance of the August St. Cloud City Council meeting, when this item is expected to be heard. At that meeting, the Council has indicated they plan to move ahead with fee increases, and also want to see a list of strategies for spurring more residential development in the citry. CMBA members are encouraged to provide input!
