Description
Housing remains a cornerstone of the American dream and the national economy, yet a persistent supply–demand imbalance has pushed the U.S. housing market into crisis. Rising prices and reduced workforce mobility are straining communities nationwide. To address this shortage, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the AEI Housing Center have released Strong Foundations: A Playbook for Housing and Economic Growth, a guide offering state and local leaders practical, actionable solutions. The playbook features location-specific data on affordability, net migration, and homeless displacement pressure, helping officials make informed decisions to strengthen housing stability and support economic growth. Toby will introduce this national initiative and highlight its relevance to St. Cloud and Minnesota.
Come hear from Tobias Peter, Senior Fellow and Co-Director of the American Enterprise Institute’s Housing Center in Washington, D.C. His work focuses on housing risk, mortgage markets, federal housing policy, and first-time homebuyers. He has testified before Congress, and his research has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, American Banker, and Business Insider. Toby holds a master’s in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a bachelor’s degree in history and applied economics from the College of St. Scholastica.
